Our Curriculum

_

In our approach to designing and delivering our curriculum, we comply with the duties of The Equality Act 2010 and the Special Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 to ensure that the curriculum is accessible for those with disabilities and Special Educational Needs. Our school follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales, providing a structured and engaging learning experience for  EYFS (0-5), Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7), and Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11).

The National Curriculum aims at mastery curriculum; that is, pupils have goals (attainment targets) to be met by the end of a key stage. We expect that pupils will be consistently exposed to the content as mapped across the key stages and gradually deepen their understanding. ‘Mastery’ is, therefore, not a style of teaching or a standard to meet. It is a concept of steady deepening of understanding.

The aim is not to ‘achieve’ learning in a lesson as if it is an ultimate destination. Instead, pupils should have numerous opportunities to return to content, over time, to gain a growing developmental understanding. Hence, scaffolding and cycling the scheme has become part of our school culture.
